Friday 23rd March 2007- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

(Daniel) Having left almost everything in the vehicle, I was unable to even shower this morning, so I ate some of the watermelon, which was left out as breakfast, and then headed to the shops to buy some supplies. The shopping centre didn’t open until 10.30, so I ate some proper breakfast in a Delifrance, then bought some toothpaste shower gel and facewash in a chemist. After this, I bought a new T-shirt and a pair of fake designer shoes for $6! After this I spotted a good deal on a digital camera, which of course I could use having no phone any more. I decided to buy it and, after some haggling, had a new 7.1 MP Olympus with a good video function and motion capture function.

After the shopping, I walked back to the Guesthouse, showered, then sat down to watch a movie in the communal area. First I watched Black Rain, a classic movie with Michael Douglas, then Babel, a new film with Brad Pitt which was actually extremely good! During my movie marathon, I ordered a pizza to the guesthouse, and then had a couple of beers form the fridge. My phone rang, it was Land Rover, whose engineers had completed the work on the vehicle. I told them that as the traffic was getting bad, I would collect tomorrow, and then called Aleyna. She was busy with work, so I told her that I would see her tomorrow also. During the day I also met Juliette, a writer from England and Jeff, another Canadian, who was very interested in the vehicle and my trip. Later Jeff and I went for dinner together at a tapas restaurant, where I also managed to buy a bottle of Leffe, and
for those who know me, and my passion for Belgian beer, that was one of the best
treats which I could get on this side of the world!

After dinner we went back to the guest house, and had a few more beers there before turning in. Before I braved the dormitory for another night, I asked Jeff if he would like to accompany me on the camping trip which we had arranged for tomorrow, he said that it sounded good, but would confirm in the morning.
