Monday 26th March 2007- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

(Daniel) After a lazy morning emailing and hanging out at the guesthouse, Aleyna came and met me just after lunch. I followed her then to their workshop in an industrial estate on the outskirts of town.

When we arrived, Aleyna’s Partner, Atac and one of his staff were busy fixing a vehicle which we had seen the day before at the waterfall, it looked like after we left he had gone a little to hard and snapped a half shaft or possibly broken the diff. Anyway, after a brief introduction, he took a look at my trailer, which needed a little welding on the jockey wheel, which he got straight onto. After that he tightened the brakes, which I have to say, it was a pleasure to watch someone else do after having tightened the bugger up myself so many times!

After he had done these couple of items, I took the fridge out and cleaned it, and then was treated to a tour of Jedi, Aleyna’s classic Range Rover, which had been modified for serious offroading! After taking a good look round Jedi, I found myself having a conversation with Atac about China and the charges which Gabby and I had originally been quoted by Rainbow Travel, one of the companies appointed by the Chinese government to administrate the entry of foreign vehicles into China. It turns out that he had done the trip several times, and usually paid around $600 per time. This sounded like a much more feasible number than the original quote of nearly $10,000 that had stopped our entry plans. I made a note to try and get a new quote, and possibly bring China back into the route again.

After this Aleyna and I drove back to KL, and stopped for dinner at a street restaurant for a chat and a Chinese meal of Beef with black bean sauce and rice. After this I said goodbye to Aleyna until the 10th Anniversary in around 11 days time. Then I returned to the guesthouse, where Jeff was back with Juliet already, so we sat down for a beer, and while we sat outside talking and emailing, a man came over and introduced himself as Ruddiee, a reporter from 4 Wheel Driver Magazine. He asked if he could do a story on the Wolf, to which I replied that he would have to be quick as I planned on leaving in the morning! He told me that he would be here first thing, and with that I went up to bed.
