Friday 27 th January 2006, Beckenham- South London to Tavistock - Devon

I set out early from Beckenham this morning, my destination, Tavistock in Devon.  I travelled here to meet Lance Blackmore, Operations Director for Superwinch.  Lance and Alan Hable have agreed to support us with a winch and winch bumper, they are also providing us with winching equipment for the trip.

On route, I was surprised to see a number of other Wolves in full Military colours, obviously travelling to the Salisbury plains.  I took the opportunity whilst at a services to have a chat with a few Paratroopers.  They informed me that they were travelling up to Salisbury for final exercises before leaving for Afghanistan.

I wished them luck, and went on my way.  Although I must say there were a few little races over the next hundred miles or so!

After leaving my military convoy, I headed on down the A303 and then the M5 to Tavistock, passing a load more military vehicles, eventually arriving at around Lunchtime.

Lance and his crew were waiting for me at the door, and after a quick round of introductions, I was given a brief tour of the factory floor, ending in a beautiful new Husky winch, waiting on the work bench for assembly.  Lance and his staff assembled winch and bumper before testing the unit and eventually loading the equipment in to the back of the Wolf.
