Today I have spoken to some very interesting people, it
started when I approached a local Land Rover dealership for
some expedition parts, a request which is apparently wasted on
a standard parts department. The Gentleman I spoke to gave me
a number for the Land Rover Special Vehicles Department. On
phoning them, I quickly discovered that this vehicle was not
built in their department, but as a Wolf it could only have
been built by the Military Department of Land Rover, this was
how I ended up on the phone to Rod Pressleton, one of the
Military Department experts, he was very helpful, but when I
had got to the point of discussing the specifics of the Gold
Wolves, he referred me to Charles Whittaker one of the
original three engineers that travelled out with the test
vehicles to perform field tests. I didn't realise at first who
I was speaking to, but soon remembered the name from Sir
Ranulph Fiennes "Max Adventure" website.

Charles told me all about the Wolf, her strengths and
weakness'. He was also able to answer some niggling questions
that only someone in his position could. I am incredibly
privileged to have spoken to him, and don't doubt that he will
be a very useful contact should I hit another problem. The
Land Rover spirit is alive and well!
The Spirit of adventure that
fuelled the Camel Trophy, which Mike Robson was so enthused by, is more apparent every day.
