First up on our list of lessons was a guided tour/ walk round check of the defender we were going to use for the next two days.

Paying special attention to the approach, departure, and ramp angles, the quality of the tyres and treads, the chassis, differentials and gearboxes, the engine, and all the fluid levels.

We also noted the differences between the TD5 we were using and our own wolf.
