(Daniel) Rowan made coffee this morning, which we drank down before heading off to the shops and then back onto the Motorway. Whilst Rowan shopped I gave Gabby a driving lesson in the Wolf.
The Roads were very easy and good quality so the going was good and we soon made the 250 miles to Vienna, I couldn’t resist a chance to drive around this beautiful city, and the Sat nav obviously agreed as it took us on a great tour of the place. The buildings were amazing, and spoke of the time when the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was in full swing. After our tour we got back on the E60 towards Budapest, but noticed on the map that we could quite easily pass through Slovakia. So we headed North East, to Bratislava.
I have to admit, that at first sight Slovakia and it’s capital city seemed to be a palette of communist greys, even with the sun bursting through the clouds for the first time since we left the UK. But after driving around, and finding a friendly hotel that let us camp in their car park, we realised that this too was beautiful city steeped in culture and history. We dropped off the trailer and headed into town for a few drinks and to sample a Friday night, eastern Europe style! We ate street food, drank vodka from small plastic cups to keep warm, and visited three very trendy and somewhat overpriced bars.
After this we headed back, via a 9 mile detour when I got lost, and got home for 11pm to go to bed.
